One Red Thread Textile Art Prize & Exhibition
ORT2024
''I See Red"
ORT2024 - ''I See Red"
I wonder what the world will bring to us this coming year? Sometimes it feels like nothing changes. The world often seems sad & horrifying with the news of wars. The rising death toll of women here in Australia due to domestic violence & then…. You look around & see wonderful, beautiful moments, little things that almost go unnoticed but sometimes just make ‘your day’ special. Photos I’ve taken on my walks into town; the Illawarra Flame tree blossoms on the footpath, the parrot enjoying scavaging amongst the leaves. |
However we still feel the same about the madness & mayhem that happens around us & feels out of our control. Bernadine Carrol’s “ENOUGH! STOP” and Ro Bruhn’s “Enough’s Enough” from the 2021/22 “Empowered Exhibition” are still relevant two years on! I hope I can encourage you to create a piece for the ''I See Red" exhibition. It’s wonderful listening & chatting to bystanders about the entries at the Expertise Events Craft & Quilt Fairs and how your work engages the public. Perhaps you should come along with me & spend an hour or so listening to comments, it will make your head swell. |
Many thanks to the supporters who have shared their creativity with this event since 2012. How exciting to think that one red leaf on the Boston Ivy at my back door back in 2011 could spark an idea. I would like to acknowledge that without the support of Expertise Events @intocraft there would be no continuance of the One Red Thread Exhibition. It is their generosity that has kept this exhibition afloat by granting me exhibition space at their major events. A huge thank you to Expertise Events & staff for their generosity & kindness. |
