Ro Bruhn - Peppertree Cottage Workshop
Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 March 2023
Artist Ro Bruhn presents: ‘Peppertree Cottage’ A whimsical cottage planted within a garden of whimsy.
Ro will guide you to create this tiny masterpiece, approximately 25cm square, using teeny tiny scraps you would usually toss in the fire.
This is a hand stitching class and no provisions will be made for sewing machines.
Any and all types of textiles can be used. Don’t be afraid to let your imagination run wild. Stitches will hold the scraps of coloured textiles in place, creating more colour, design and more texture.
Ro will assist you to play and create your own version of this beautiful masterpiece. You can make it larger if you wish, but the larger you go, the longer it will take.
For me this is not a piece I would want to rush to finish in a weekend though I’m sure many of you will soar ahead. I would call this ‘freestyle—improvisational’ stitching, slowly making your way by placing little snippets of coloured scraps to create the garden and surrounds.
You will be in the safe hands of one of my favourite artists. Ro will guide you, the textiles being the medium instead of paint, though I believe there are a few surprises in store.
Ro is an absolute joy to be with, I can’t wait to be in the audience and participate.
Places are limited.
This is not a paint with numbers class. You need to open your creative spirit and play; build a cottage garden of your dreams, paint your cottage a colour you have always desired but possibly never quite had the courage to do in real life.
This is a 2 day workshop: Saturday & Sunday 18 & 19 March 2023.
We might work slightly longer on day one and start earlier on day two so some participants can make their long journey home.
This creative class will be held at the Berry Uniting Church in Albert Street.
